The classical Baer-Kaplansky theorem connects isomorphisms of finite abelian groups with isomorphisms of their endomorphism rings. In this talk, based on a joint work with Simion Breaz, I will argue that extension of the Baer-Kaplansky theorem to all abelian groups involves isomorphisms of endomorphism trusses of heaps corresponding to groups. The less familiar notions of heaps, trusses etc. will be explained along the way.
