Thursday 31 Jan 2019Statistical Science- Dr Tim Morris "Using simulation studies to evaluate statistical methods"

Tim Morris - MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL

H101 14:30-15:30

Simulation studies are an invaluable tool for statistical research. They help us to understand the properties of statistical methods and to compare different methods. To perform a meaningful simulation study, careful thought must be put into planning, coding, analysis, presentation and interpretation. Unfortunately, such thought does not appear to be used in the many simulation studies. I will discuss how we can use simulation studies and how they should be planned, executed and reported.
