Tuesday 24 Mar 2015Drinking Water Treatment through the Ages

Mr. Ian Crossley, MIMechE, CEng -

Harrison 170 14:00-15:00

Safe drinking water is a primary component for a successful society and economy. Cities cannot endure or grow without a safe drinking water supply system. From Roman times and earlier, engineers have strived to bring clean and safe water to large populations.
This lecture will review the history of water treatment processes from Egyptian times to the current day. Examples of treatment systems will be presented to illustrate the engineering and technological advances made over the last century and to future systems.
