Let GL_n be the group of invertible nxn matrices over an algebraically
closed field k. I will discuss the basic problem of finding an explicit
description of the highest weight vectors for the conjugation action
of GL_n in the ring k[gl_n] of polynomial functions on the vector
space gl_n of nxn matrices.
