University of Exeter and BMT partner up to enhance technical excellence

University of Exeter and BMT are celebrating the signing of a new collaboration agreement. 

BMT is a leading international scientific and engineering technical services and consulting business, with deep specialism in defence and security, specialist ship design and surveys, critical infrastructure design and support, and environmental assessment and modelling. This new industry-academic partnership will enable support for future research and technology development initiatives, the sharing of expertise, capability and will facilitate the collaboration in developing new insights. The partnership will also provide opportunities to employees, researchers and students through knowledge exchange, project placements and sharing of facilities.

The collaboration agreement is a key milestone for University of Exeter and BMT, as part of their joint research on immersive reality in University of Exeter and Bath’s VSimulator project. This project includes the development of two bespoke multi-disciplinary platforms, which combine virtual reality with a motion platform and full body motion capture. These facilities will offer a wealth of opportunities for collaborative research and draw on BMT’s extensive knowledge in creating immersive learning experiences environments.

Both the University of Exeter and BMT are known for their joint pursuit of technical excellence, investment in research and their global reach. By entering into this agreement, they will mutually benefit from their established connections across industry and academia.
