Event to encourage careers in computing

Sixth-form students will hear presentations from Google and Lloyds Banking Group among others as part of an event to promote careers in computing.

The Computer Science in Business event will be held at the University of Exeter on Friday 18 March and features a varied programme to highlight the importance of Computer Science.

Staged during National Science and Engineering Week, the conference is one in a series that is supported by Computing at School (CAS) group and aims to explain why more graduates are needed who have studied a Computer Science related degree.

Zena Wood, from the University of Exeter and who is helping to organise the event, said: “The day should prove very insightful with presentations being given by both Google and Lloyds Banking Group.

“Participants will also be able to examine, through games and activities, how Computer Science can provide intelligent solutions for big businesses.”

As part of the event, students will also be given the opportunity to find out about the related degrees offered by Exeter and talk to current undergraduate students.
