Fully funded PhD studentships available

Join an inspiring research community – fully funded PhD studentships available

Research is at the heart of the University of Exeter, and in order to develop the next generation of researchers, fully funded PhD studentships are available in all subject areas taught within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, up to a value of £19,000 per year.

Our commitment to research excellence and desire to support and train future researchers means we are successfully involved with a number of Research Council-funded Doctoral Training Partnerships. These provide talented PhD students with funded support through their PhD, as well as the advantage of being part of a wider research community of other respected universities and organisations in the private and public sectors.

Ranked 8th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014, we are a Russell Group university with an excellent research reputation. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework the University of Exeter was seen to have world-leading research and impact in all subjects submitted, with 98 per cent of the University’s research of international quality.

PhD students at Exeter have the opportunity to research in an interdisciplinary environment with leading experts whose research impacts on the wider world. PhD support is provided through the Researcher Development Programme and Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Programme.
