The speakers will present innovative visualization methods based on ground-breaking techniques from computer games technology that can help understand the interactions and interdependencies of complex systems. These innovative approaches to 3D modelling and public engagement are fast, easy to use and interact with and can be linked to computational model output which can illustrate in real time a sustainable approach to policy-making and urban design. We will present example applications of the techniques including the physical appearance of an urban development, the assessment and communication of the effect of interventions on water quality at the catchment scale, flood risks and integrated coastal zone management.
