Thursday 15 Oct 2009: Star Formation in Cepheus - Results From The Spitzer Gould Belt Survey
Dr Jason Kirk - Cardiff University, UK
Physics, 4th Floor interaction area 12:00-13:00
The Gould Belt is a ring of star formation regions within 500 pc of the Sun. There is now a concerted effort to map these regions with the current and next generation of sensitive, high-speed IR and submm cameras. In this talk I will describe the Belt and some of the work that has been done so far with the Spitzer Space Telescope. I will focus on the Cepheus Flare star formation region and how Spitzer has been able to significantly increase our census of young stellar objects.
