Tuesday 24 Sep 2019Dynamics Seminar: Generalized Farey sequences

Chris Lutsko - University of Bristol

Harrison 103 13:30-15:30

In this talk I will discuss some recent results concerning generalized Farey sequences. While these sequences arise naturally in the study of discrete(and in particular thin) subgroups, they can be used to describe interesting number theoretic sequences – for example rationals whose continued fraction partial quotients are subject to congruence conditions. The talk will focus on equidistribution properties and local statistics. As an application I will also present a proof of the convergence of Gauss-Kuzmin statistics for one such sequence.
