Zheng Jun Chew is a member of the Energy Harvesting Group led by Professor Meiling Zhu. He received his BEng (Hons) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering with First Class Honour from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2010. Then, he worked as an electrical engineer in Sony EMCS(M) Sdn Bhd before obtaining the Zienkiewicz scholarship to pursue his PhD in Swansea University. His research in Swansea University included characterisation of piezoelectric cantileve sensor, design MEMS driver and nanostructure synthesis.
His research interests include power management circuit for energy harvesting and different types of energy harvesters. His main area of expertise is in the design of low power adaptive power management circuit for wireless sensor nodes powered by piezoelectric energy harvester with the aid of PSpice simulation and validate using experimental characterisation. He is also working on the design of energy harvester excited by low vibration/frequency and power management circuit for other harvesters such as electromagnetic and thermoelectric generators.
