I carried out my undergraduate degree here at Exeter in Civil Engineering (MEng) and have since made a sparkling transition to Mechanical Engineering and in particular - Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
My work is concerned with the prediction of turbulent fluid-particle flow. The interaction between a fluid and particles in high Reynolds number flow can lead to a complex mix of physical behaviour which is exacerbated in wall bounded configurations. One interesting property of such a configuration can be a potential reduction of energy loss in a system with the addition of particles. This has many industrial applications in pneumatic conveying.
Aditionally. I am also apart of a research group investigating scour/particle mechanics around civil structures.
