This module run across Terms 1 and 2, culminating at the Easter break. Students will work with their mentors, academic staff and Innovation Centre staff (business development managers, intellectual property specialists) to develop a personal development plan tailored to their needs and supported by the University’s resources. Students will learn how to find funding sources, access finance, complete tax and administrative documents as well as set-up and dissolve a limited company. Feedback on performance in this module will be in time to impact performance in the Business Start-up Project module thereby providing formative feedback on many of the core documents required by the Professional Development Portfolio. Assessment will be through submission of mock business administrative documents and an extended critically-reflective academic essay that highlights the technical development of their business ideas as they relate to Engineering.
