John Kilpatrick holds an EPSRC DTP scholarship for his PhD at the University of Exeter researching the Transmission matrix to detect cancer in vivo.
In his masters, also at the University of Exeter, he studied Raman spectroscopy under the supervision of Nick Stone. The group was able to combine a deep Raman spectroscopy technique (SORS) with a fluorescence suppression technique (SERDS) for the first time.
Currently he is working in the structured light group led by Dave Phillips to develop techniques to image through multi-mode optical fibres using the latest advances in wavefront-shaping.
John is the President of Exeter Photonics, a student run society funded by SPIE and Optica. The society runs outreach, industry visits, and socials. If you want us to visit your company or think we'd be good to help with your next outreach day get in touch.
