Hong completed her PhD from Department of Materials, Loughborough University. She then worked in Loughborough University, The University of Nottingham and University of Exeter as a Research Associate/Research Fellow between 2008-2012. Hong is an Experimental Officer in the Imaging Suite since May 2012 and Imaging Suite Team Leader since July 2015. Hong manages the Imaging Suite and is specialized in materials characterisation using various techniques including SEM EDS, FIB SEM, TEM/STEM, XRD, CT, AFM, and sample preparations. Hong is a Charted Scientist (CSci), a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) and a Fellow of Royal Microscopical Society (FRMS).
