Overview

Dan Moore is a Postgraduate Researcher at the Centre for Metamaterial Research and Innovation. His research interests are centred around controlling sound; passive beam steering, tailored absorption, using acoustic metasurfaces and metamaterial waveguides.

He began his career in the live event industry in 2008 and continues to work as an audio engineer and consultant. He has had a multi-faceted career, having engineered for countless live acts, composed music for film, managed noise for outdoor music events and helped developments gain planning permission relating to noise.

Having an industry background, Dan is always keen to discuss potential real-world acoustic metamaterial applications.

In 2019 he completed a postgraduate degree in Applied Acoustics from Southampton Solent University, where his research project used optimised procedural noise to design 3D printed acoustic diffusers.

Dan holds membership with the Audio Engineering Society, and associate membership with the Institute of Acoustics.
