Exeter expert named in top 25 leaders in worldwide water industry

An engineering expert from the University of Exeter has been named among the top 25 industry leaders worldwide.

Dragan Savic, who is the UK’s first Professor of Hydroinformatics, was voted into the global list of Top 25 Water Industry Leaders by global water/wastewater industry members and the readers of Water and Wastewater International Magazine (WWi), a PennWell International title.

Professor Savic, who has held his post at Exeter since 1994, said: “I’m delighted and honoured to receive this recognition, which also recognises the Centre for Water Systems for its international reputation as a major player in the water engineering field. Our work brings together a wide range of disciplines related to water management, and we fulfil a real need for both fundamental and innovative applied research into water systems engineering. Much of this work is carried out jointly with industry, to ensure that research results are put to good use as soon as possible.”

Professor Savic is a chartered civil and water engineer with over 30 years’ experience in research, teaching and consulting, he is a founder and co-director of the Centre for Water Systems, an internationally recognised group for excellence in water and environmental science research and the director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in “Water Informatics: Science and Engineering”.

He has lectured extensively throughout the UK and abroad and is currently a visiting professor at the Universities of Bari (Italy) and Belgrade (Serbia), UNESCO-IHE (Delft, The Netherlands) and Harbin Institute of Technology (Harbin, China).
