Help tackle climate change in Exeter

How will climate change affect Exeter, and what can individuals and the community do about it?

Researchers from the University of Exeter will discuss these questions and more at a free event on Thursday 13 July.

Climate at the Quay, from 4-8pm at the Transit Shed opposite the Custom House, will feature fun, hands-on activities for all ages, and demonstrations of how we can make a difference in key areas of our lives – including in our homes, how we travel and what we eat.

As well as the opportunity to meet researchers from the university, visitors will be able to talk to representatives of community organisations and local businesses focussed on climate change, sustainability and Exeter’s local environment.

“Sometimes climate change seems like too big an issue to do anything about, but we’ll be showing some actions you can take in your life that are good for the climate and will be good for you, too,” said event organiser Dr Anna Harper, from the University of Exeter.

“We hope people leave the event feeling inspired to make some small changes that can add up.”

The local businesses and organisations taking part in the event include Riverford organic farmers, Co Cars and Exeter Community Energy.

Climate at the Quay will also offer an opportunity to join Exeter Community Climate Network, a group of people who are passionate about the environment and climate-related issues.
