Monday 11 Jun 2012Genetic Programming - Applications and Improvements

Andrew Watson - City College, Plymouth

Harrison 170 15:00-16:00

This seminar will investigate the integration of evolutionary techniques for symbolic regression. In particular the genetic programming paradigm is used with other evolutionary techniques to develop novel approaches to the improvement of areas of preliminary design software that use empirical data sets. It has been shown that within this problem domain, conventional genetic programming suffers from several limitations, which can be overcome by the introduction of an improved genetic programming strategy. The work presented here represents an advance in the field of genetic programming and is illustrated by extensive experimentation using both test functions and real-world examples
