Tuesday 11 Aug 2020[Journal Club] Title: Examining the effects of stellar flares on the habitability of tidally locked terrestrial exoplanets

Robert Ridgeway - University of Exeter

Zoom 11:15-11:50

Exoplanets orbiting M dwarf stars are likely to be impacted by stellar activity. Stellar flares release large amounts of UV radiation and stellar protons which could have significant effects on the planets habitability as well as atmospheric composition. In this talk, I shall cover my continued efforts into incorporating photolysis into a Met Office Unified Model chemistry scheme for tidally locked terrestrial planets, as well as explain future plans to incorporate stellar proton events.

The talk will be held via Zoom - please contact Tom Wilson if you would like to join.
