Tuesday 07 May 2019: [Journal Club] An Introduction to Interferometric Instrumentation
Aaron Labdon - University of Exeter
4th Floor Interaction Area 11:15-11:45
I aim to provide an introduction to the inner working of interferometric arrays and instruments, taking you through some of the recent developments at the CHARA array and the MIRC-X instrument. I will focus on two projects I have been involved with in collaboration with the university of Michigan. Firstly, the development of a the baseline solution for the CHARA array to enable faster and easier fringe searching and tracking capabilities. Secondly, there ongoing work to commission the first ever J-band interferometric observations of a YSO, including our work to model and correct for the dispersive elements of MIRC-X to enable simultaneous H and J band observations.
