Thursday 13 Dec 2018NT Seminar: Euler systems and p-adic L-functions for Siegel modular forms

Prof. David Loeffler - University of Warwick

H103 14:30-16:30

An important tool in the arithmetic of modular forms, and hence of elliptic curves over the rationals, is the theory of Euler systems -- compatible families of p-adic cohomology classes related to the values of L-functions, such as Kato's Euler system and Kolyvagin's Euler system of Heegner points. I will describe recent joint work with Skinner and Zerbes on the construction of a new Euler system associated to Siegel modular forms, and ongoing work with Skinner, Zerbes and Vincent Pilloni aiming to relate this new Euler system to values of L-functions.
