Monday 16 Oct 2017: CRIRES plus update and near infrared diffuse interstellar bands

The CRIRES upgrade project, CRIRES+, will transform this high spectral
resolution VLT infrared instrument into a cross-dispersed spectrograph,
increasing the simultaneous wavelength coverage by a factor of around
ten. In this talk I will present the expected capabilities of the
upgraded CRIRES. Some results obtained with the original CRIRES will
also be shown where we investigate near-Infrared diffuse interstellar
bands and their small and tiny-scale structure. In particular, the use
of the MOLECFIT tool to correct astronomical spectra for telluric line
contamination will be presented.
