If no alien visits us by the end of the century, studying exoplanets' atmospheres would be the only way of investigating their habitability, in our lifetime. I will present you an overview of my endeavour in the last decade to understand how planetary atmospheres work: from implementing a simplified GCM and studying escaping atmospheres to developing an integrated platform at the MPIA.
