Wednesday 26 Apr 2017: UX Ori type stars as a natural laboratory for study of the circumstelar environment of young stars
Dr. Vladimir Grinin - Pulkovo Observatory
Physics, 4th Floor 14:00-15:00
UX Ori type stars (UXORs) are young stars selected due to their photometric activity. Later it turned out that they are surrounded with the protoplanetary disks oriented nearly edge-on, and such an orientation was the main reason of their activity. Observing these stars through the dusty atmosphere of their protoplanetary disks, we can study the innermost regions of the disks. In my report, after a brief introduction I will tell about the most interesting findings in this area made in recent years. In particular, we shell discuss the possible connection between UXOrs and “dippers”.
