Wednesday 18 May 2016Seminar: Modeling: Young Stars and Evolved Stars

Dr Maria Carolina Duran Rojas -

Physics, 4th floor 14:00-15:00

An approach to know the physical parameters of stellar objects is by modeling the Brightness and/or Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) of these objects. I will present some estimations made for Young Stellar Objects (YSO) and Post-AGB Stars by solving the radiative transfer equation. For YSO we used polarimetric observations in order to obtain the Stokes parameters and calculate the angle and percentage of polarization, and we modeled their Brightness. We modeled the SED of post-AGB water fountain sources in order to obtain physical parameters such as the temperature and luminosity of the central star, and density and temperature of the envelope.
