With competition bringing big changes to the Water Industry it must ensure it puts the customer first and evolve by becoming more innovative. Sewer flooding can be devastating to customers and caused by hydraulic issues and/or blockages on the sewer network. Thames Water are investigating how monitoring and alarms can transform the wastewater sewerage network to become more reactive during storm events with Real Time Control and managed more proactively to prevent blockages. Different monitoring/alarm techniques will be discussed, the issues it brings with them as well as the benefits.
