Thursday 19 Mar 2015: Seminar: Searching for Exoplanets in Holey Debris Disks
Prof Matthew Kenworthy - Leiden Observatory
Physics, 4th floor 14:00-15:00
The direct imaging of gas giant planets around nearby stars faces two challenges - how to reduce the glare of their parent star whilst keeping the flux from the planet coming through, and where are the best places to search for planets. I will present results from our group that tackle both these problems, through the use of new types of coronagraph, and looking for planets in two component disks.
