Tuesday 30 Oct 2012Does Water Sensitive Urban Design had a future in England?

Bob Sargent - British Hydrological Society

HAR170 14:00-15:00

While England is still struggling to implement SUDS in any practical way several other countries have developed WSUD - water sensitive urban design. What exactly is WSUD, how does it differ from SUDs, and could it help us manage water better in our urban areas? This presentation will examine these issues, and also assess whether we could ever develop WSUD into a workable practice with our institutional framework. Given our poor progress on SUDs, the prospects might seem bleak, but a practical way forward might be emerging which could change our approach to our urban water management.
