I am a first year PhD student studying time-stepping schemes for weather and climate prediction, specifically time-stepping schemes that would allow parallel-in-time integration. The advent of massively parallel supercomputers means that it will soon become necessary to take time steps in parallel in order to obtain numerical solutions to the equations that govern the behaviour of the atmosphere. I am interested in the mathematics of such time schemes and how they could be implemented in a framework for weather and climate prediction.
I graduated from the University of Limerick in the summer of 2020 with a BSc in Mathematics and Physics.
I am part of the NERC GW4+ Doctoral Training Partnership. My supervisors are Dr Jemma Shipton and Prof Beth Wingate in Exeter, and Dr Ben Shipway at the Met Office.
