Participants should plan to arrive by noon of Monday 5th and leave on the afternoon of Wednesday 7th of September

Workshop objective:  The workshop is part of the European WIndstorm Research Network (EUWIRN) the creation of which is an additional deliverable of the RACEWIN project. This workshop aims to:

  • bring together leading climate researchers on European and N. Atlantic extra-tropical cyclones in order to share recent research ideas;
  • develop ideas on how to consolidate and grow activity in this important area of research relevant for Europe.

Overview talks on the main issues will be used to set the scene and then on the last day there will small thematic breakout working groups to discuss ideas on how to join up research in different areas. Groups will then reconvene to report back developments and ideas.  Poster boards will be available throughout the period around the main room.

  • National Express - For coach travel from Bristol Airport to Exeter Coach Station.
  • Buses from Honiton Road Park and Ride provide a convenient way of getting to the Met Office from Exeter city centre (bus every 12 minutes). This map displays the locations in town where the bus can be picked up. The buses take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

Please note: while the Holiday Inn Express is very convenient for the Met Office, there are limited places to eat nearby and less regular public transport to/from the city centre in the evening.
