Overview

Zoltan has a Master’s degree (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering and have completed his PhD thesis in the field of Materials Engineering (composites). Zoltan is an ambitious and hard-working person with a logical approach to problem recognising and problem solving who works towards becoming a chartered engineer. Zoltan has strong networking skills that he gained by liaising with numerous internal and external partners throughout the projects he was working on. Zoltan has more than ten years’ of hands-on experience in materials science (polymers, metals, and composites), has worked with a wide range of manufacturing, testing and analysing techniques and carried out various commercial projects for companies in the aerospace (Rolls-Royce, Barden, GKN, Fine Tubes, Zodiac Aerospace, Cobham plc), automotive & transport (Bentley, Carr Reinforcements, Daido Metals, Vortok Rail), as well as marine (Princess Yachts, MTag, Oyster Yachts) sectors.

At Exeter, Zoltan is a member of the Exeter Advanced Technologies Group and currently working on a development of lightweight composite parts for automotive industry. His responsibilities include project management, project support for senior management and industrial partners, quarter annual review of risk register and exploitation plan, monitoring market trends and update product implementation strategies, identify IP protection, material selection, procurement and characterisation, mould tool design, preparation of test samples and prototypes, testing according to international standards, data analysis and validation. Zoltan prepares and delivers the technical presentations for the quarterly annual project meetings, where he also take minutes and create an action plan for the next period based on the discussion within the partners.

Zoltan also holds a voluntary position as Chairperson for the Early Career Research Network Committee within CEMPS. His role includes organising trainings and social events for the members of the Early Career Researcher Network in collaboration with lead academics and act as a representative at various executive board meetings and national events. His duties includes implementation of the university strategy within the College, especially for Early Career Researchers in collaboration with other interdisciplinary groups (HR, Research Services, Marketing Team, etc.). He also co-ordinates and supports the work of other ECRN managers based in Streatham and Penryn campuses.
