Apr. 2022: HAMMER OPERATOR DYNAMICS PAPER
Our international research team have a paper on influence of hammer operator on dynamics of lightweight structure accepted in Journal of Sound and Vibration. We look forward to furtehr collaboration in the vibration serviceability research field.
Mar. 2022: BEST POSTER PRIZE
Bintian Lin, a visiting PhD student, won a poster competition at the annual Young Researchers Conference organised by IStructE. The conference was held remotely in two stages in March 2022. Bintian presented his poster entitled “Bipedal inverted pendulum: modelling vertical pedestrian-structure interaction on footbridges” and impressed a panel of judges with both his research and handling of questions. Well done Bintian.
Feb. 2021: COMPLETION OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA COLLECTION ON vPERFORM PROJECT
Dr Sigong Zhang has successfully completed demanding testing programme consisting of collecting kinematic and kinetic data for 15 test subjects walking under controlled conditions in VSimulators facility at Exeter. Closure of the facility and/or operating at reduced capacity due to covid-19 pandemics could not prevent Sigong to do an excellent job. Well done Sigong. We can now concentrate on doing some novel analyses and writing interesting papers.
Oct. 2021: CELEBRATING 175 YEARS OF FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING IN BELGRADE
Prof. Zivanovic was invited to present her research at the Civil Engineering 2021: Achievements and Visions conference celebrating 175th Anniversary of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. She presented developments in the area of vibration serviceability under human induced excitation, entitled "Human side of vibration serviceability equation: dynamic actions, reactions, and interactions."
Aug. 2021: PAPER IN ASCE's JBE
Collaboration with colleagues at the University of Oviedo has resulted in a paper in the Journal of Bridge Engineering. We proposed a design spectrum for predicting vibration response of footbridge structures, and are looking forward to extending this work to account for pedestrian-structure dynamic interaction.
Apr. 2021: SECOND POSTER PRIZE FOR NIMMY ABRAHAM
Nimmy Abraham, a PhD student, won the 2nd prize in the poster competition at the CEMPS PGR Conference with her poster on "Vibration comfort of pedestrians on slender footbridges". Well done Nimmy.
