Ms Aileen MacGregor
Senior Lecturer (Education and Scholarship)
I studied Mathematics at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and my first employment was at The Meteorological Office. I was a scientific programmer, developing software for the very first Supercomputer and training other research scientists and programmers to use the supercomputer. My role within the Met Office changed, and I became a systems developer, designing the specification for a new computer system to retrieve and process data from meteorological satellites. I also investigated the feasibility of providing forecasters with real-time computer systems for the visualisation of weather information.
Following a career break, I moved into Education. I taught Alevel Mathematics and Key Skills in Further Education Colleges, and after moving to Exeter I gained my present job of lecturer, here at The University of Exeter. This has included time at INTO, designing and teaching their Mathematics courses.
I have also been involved with the current reform of Alevel Mathematics as a member of The HE panel of experts for the AQA examination board.
