The Centre for Water Systems offers you an opportunity to get involved in one of our postgraduate taught or research programmes.
MSc Water Engineering
Designed for engineers seeking to study water engineering at an advanced level before moving quickly to management or leadership positions.
The programme is highly relevant to the needs of future water engineers and will provide you with knowledge and key skills in the broad area of urban water engineering and management, equipping you to solve modern day engineering problems.
This programme draws upon the expertise of the Centre for Water Systems, which is internationally renowned for its research in water supply and distribution systems, waste water and urban drainage systems, integrated modelling, risk and uncertainty, and whole-life costing.

MSc Water Engineering with Management
Taught in partnership with the University of Exeter's Business School, this degree blended our MSc in Water Engineering with additional modules in Management and Strategy.
Undertaking a postgraduate research degree at the Centre for Water Systems will enable you to carry out in-depth research in your area of interest whilst working alongside experts in the field of water engineering, and often in close collaboration with national and international indsutrial partners, academics and other institutions.
In addition to our academic expertise and partnerships, our state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure provide the perfect environment for research excellence and innovation. This helps create an energetic and vibrant academic community for our postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and staff.

The Water Informatics: Science and Engineering ("WISE") CDT is funded by EPSRC and is a partnership between the University of Exeter, University of Bath, University of Bristol and Cardiff University.
The WISE CDT recruited five annual cohorts between 2014 and 2018, fostering new levels of innovation and collaboration and offering an exciting learning environment for students to develop and carry out PhD-level research at the boundary of water informatics, science and engineering.
To find out more about this programme, please visit the WISE CDT website.
"STREAM" is the industrial doctoral centre for the water sector and is funded by EPSRC and partner companies.
The STREAM programme has trained 10 cohorts of talented researchers, totalling 97 students, who have developed their skills and careers whilst obtaining an EngD or PhD degree at one of five UK academic centres of excellence in water science and engineering: Cranfield University, Imperial College London, Newcastle University, University of Exeter or University of Sheffield.
Research topics have included drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, distribution systems, catchment management, and decentralised water services. Projects have covered all stages of research, from conception to full-scale testing and implementation, and have had major impacts on the investments and practices of their sponsor companies.
