Miss Tomasa Sbaffi

My PhD project is supervised by Dr. Chris Bryan (primary supervisor) and Prof. Angus Buckling (secondary supervisor) in the Environment and Sustainability Institute, Camborne School of Mines.

The research will focus on the ecological functions given by the metabolic abilities of microbes from mine impacted environments and the potential use of these skills in bio-hydrometallurgy. This will be achieved through analysis of their performance in complex controlled culturing systems, such as bioreactors.
