Employer consultation
Employer consultation is now underway for the proposed South Devon University Technical College in Engineering, Water and the Environment, based in Newton Abbot. This will be a new academy school for up to 600 children aged 14-18, with the core curriculum of GCSEs and A levels taught alongside vocational qualifications. Students will progress to university or jobs as apprentices. This is a unique opportunity for employers to influence the shape of the curriculum and to support the school through curriculum workshops, masterclasses, extended work experience and placements.
The partnership looking at the feasibility of a UTC in South Devon includes the University of Exeter, South Devon College, Teignbridge District Council, Centrax, Galliford Try, South West Water, the Federation of Small Businesses and Devon County Council, as well as local MP for Newton Abbot Anne Marie Morris.
