Dr Nu Rhahida Arini
Arini is a research fellow for the MTG project, a collaborative renewable energy project focussed on developing a tidal turbine system which will be deployed for the Africa and Asia markets. Her current research focuses on designing a mooring line system for a high capacity turbine platform. She also has experience in designing and optimizing a tidal turbine employing numerical and experimental analysis approaches. Her interest includes CFD and she is familiar with both opensource and proprietary package softwares such as OpenFOAM and Fluent. She also works with OrcaFlex for the analysis of mooring line systems, drafting designs using Solidworks and writing codes in Matlab to control and minimise turbine vibration. Her background in mechanical engineering also demonstrates her knowledge of structures, materials and manufacturing processes. She has contributed to papers and was awarded a best paper in 2015. She also received research funding from DSTL for her dedicated work in examining how a tidal turbine is influenced by trailing edge foil profiles.
