Marvin B. Sigalo is an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer with over ten years’ experience (Industrial application and Research based) in power system design and construction (Transmission and Distribution Networks) with keen interest in smart grid, smart metering (Demand side management), Microgrids and Renewable Energy System Integration (Modern Power Engineering). He had his first Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics Option) from the Rivers State University of and Science and Technology(Now Rivers State University) in 2006 and Masters in Electrical Power Engineering from Northumbria University Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2012.

His research interest is in the application and control of power electronics converters in Renewable Energy Systems integration for distributed energy resources, microgrids and hybrid electric vehicle system (Harmonic distortion caused by EV (Electrical Vehicle) battery chargers in the distribution systems network). Other areas of interest include but not limited to power flow analysis, integrated power management system for the oil and gas industries and power system management for Sub-Saharan Africa (Policy and Programs).

His PhD research aims at developing an efficient and optimum economic operation of a hybrid microgrid system with multiple energy storage using linear programming, mixed interger programming, dynamic programming and machine learning. His work is supervised by Dr. Mohammad Abusara and Dr. Saptarshi Das.

He is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Member of the Nigeria society of Engineers (NSE) and Associate Member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK, An Elsavier Science Direct (Electric Power Systems Research) Reviewer.

His main objective is to build a career centered on excellence and integrity that will benefit mankind and to secure a full-time position working with a dynamic and result oriented Organization.
