Chinese Power Plants Retrofitting Potential

In order to identify the retrofitting potential of Chinese power plant, Jia has surveyed 134 large Chinese power plants from 2006 to 2010. The study found nearly half of surveyed Chinese power plants are definitely not retrofitable. Only 20% of power plants have potential to be retrofitted in an economic way during its lifetime. She analyzed the technical and economic performance of retrofitting a supercritical power plant to CO2 capture. Jia also simulated the overall power plant performance with CO2 Capture and Storage in China.

CCS Ready (CO2 Capture Ready)

In 2011, Dr. Jia Li initiated the concept of CCS Ready Hub. CCS Ready Hub suggests implementing CCS Ready (or CO2 Capture Ready) at a regional level instead of individual stationary emission sources. The image below demonstrates three potential CCS ready hubs identified in Guangdong province in China.
