The Renewable Energy department is leading the way in renewable energy research and teaching. We provide high quality teaching, supervision, pastoral care and learning opportunities designed to challenge and bring out the very best of our students' intellectual and personal skills.
Our Renewable Energy programmes are taught at our Penryn Campus near Falmouth. We offer a range of degrees for undergraduates. For postgraduates we offer both masters by research and an MPhil/PhD in Renewable Energy.

Research-led teaching enhanced by exceptional industrial links
- Industrial experience is a vital element of our degree programmes. The taught programme is enhanced by a wide range of field trips, and a 2-3 month work placement, allowing you to develop practical, applied skills and enhance your employability.
- We have extensive industrial support from industry leaders including Bill Dunster Architects, Compact Power, Garrad Hassan, Geoscience, npower renewables, Ocean Power Technologies, Scottish and Southern Energy and Wardell Armstrong International.
- Our new Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) will be at the forefront of scientific and technological research in environment and sustainability.
Teaching and research facilities
The Renewable Energy department boasts world-leading research facilities. We have state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, including materials testing and workshops but also have significant specialist resources applicable to the renewable energy sector.
Our Renewable Energy programmes are taught at our Cornwall Campus near Falmouth.
The campus provides everything a student may require from study and research facilities to sport and recreation with an active Students' Union (FXU) supporting a vast array of clubs and societies.
