I completed my MPhys in Physics with Astrophysics here at the University of Exeter, graduating in July 2015. Having already enjoyed 4 fulfilling years at Exeter, I commenced my PhD in September 2015 looking forward to several more. My Masters project titled "Dusting Off the Extinction Law in the Near-Infrared", supervised by Prof. Tim Naylor, analysed the effects of interstellar dust present in the interstellar medium.
I have since taken a tentative step back from the field of Astrophysics towards Theoretical Physics. As a member of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Metamaterials, I am working with Prof. Misha Portnoi on the theoretical use of metamaterials for terahertz generation. My PhD project, titled “Carbon Nanotube Arrays for Terahertz Generation: Theory and Applications” aims to provide novel ideas in order to bridge the so-called terahertz gap.
