Profile
My BSc degree was obtained in Physics at King Saud University in 1998. During undergraduate studying, my interest in physics was strengthened through participating and supervising scientific activities and inventions at schools, which were organized from 1998 to 2013 by Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia. During this time, I concentrated on lasers. While studying for my masters, I focused of Nano-Science, due its great potential for scientific revolutions. Nano-Technology has changed technology in many applications in most areas. This change motivated me to choose "Photoacoustic Properties of Silver Nanoparticles in Solutions" as a masters' dissertation title which I completed in Laser Physics at King Saud University in 2011. Currently, I am working on a PhD with Prof. Francesca Palombo and Prof. Nick stone within the BioSpec Group at University of Exeter. The subject of the research is Noble metal nanoparticle constructs for Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy applications in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Generally, my research is focused on the following overall objectives:
- Prepare the NP constructs accordingly to current protocols.
- Assess the NP suitability for SERS application to cell samples.
- Add Raman reporter to the constructs to investigate cancer targeting.
Specifically, the project is aimed at developing biodegradable noble metal nanoparticle constructs based on AuNPs and liposomes (or lipid vesicles) with added SERS activity and tumour-targeting capabilities.
