Thursday 17 May 2012: FMG Seminar: Carbon nanotube filter, a promising solution
Hamed Parham (University of Exeter) -
Harrison 170 (3D Visualisation Suite) 14:00-15:00
Pollution crisis caused by human activities counts as a major problem all around the world, especially in industrial regions and metropolises. The emitted pollutions into the air and water represent a threat to human health and the surrounding natural resources and have adversely affected the lives of millions of people by causing health disorders. Innovations and advances in nanotechnology have addressed many of the above issues concerning the quality of water and air. In particular, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have received special attentions. We will look into an easy approach for fabricating a practical nanofilter by CNTs and its filtration efficiency in removing organic and inorganic contaminants.
