Thursday 22 Mar 2012: Tracking nanoparticle entry, dilution and exchange in dynamic cell populations
Professor Huw Summers - Swansea University
Harrison 170 (3D Visualisation Suite) 14:00-15:00
In the development of nanomedicines an understanding of the rich and varied dynamics of nanoparticle-cell interactions is fundamental. The life cycle of cells plays a major role in determining nanoparticle load/dose, the internal organisation and processing of particles and their dispersion through cell division. In this talk I will present our work on the tracking of nano and micro particles within live cells and discuss the development of automated image analysis, based on fluorescent particles, to label and track cells and to monitor the pharmacology of nanoscale drug delivery systems.
