Thursday 17 Nov 2011: MCS COLLOQUIUM: Fluctuations energy harvesting: from macro to nano
Luca Gammaitoni - Universita di Perugia
Harrison 203 15:00-16:00
Ambient energy harvesting has been in recent years the recurring object of a number of research efforts aimed at providing an autonomous solution to the powering of small-scale electronic devices. Among the different solutions, small scale vibration energy harvesting has played a major role due to the almost universal presence of mechanical vibrations mainly in the form of random fluctuations, i.e. noise. In this talk we briefly discuss the role of such micro-energies and the possibility to harvest them by employing nonlinear dynamical systems.
******** This MCS colloquium will be followed by tea / coffee / cake in room 106 from 4pm **************
