Thursday 13 Feb 2020: Internal Gravity Waves in Stellar Interiors
Prof. Tamara Rogers - University of Newcastle
Harrison 103 14:30-16:30
It has recently become clear that there are large discrepancies between 1D stellar evolution models and observations with observations indicating more efficient angular momentum transport and chemical mixing within stellar interiors. It is generally accepted that the resolution lies with hydrodynamic or magnetohydrodynamic processes. In this talk I will discuss internal gravity waves (IGW) as a potential mechanism which could explain these observations and which certainly act within stellar interiors.
