Fernando Buarque de Lima Neto received his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of London-Imperial College (2002). He is head of Computational Intelligence Research Group and Associate Professor at the University of Pernambuco-Brazil, where he has supervised over 100 students in the PhD, MSc and BSc final dissertations. He has authored over 200 scientific publications and holds visiting positions at Texas A&M University, University of Johannesburg and University of Munster-WWU (also serving as Research Ambassador of WWU). He is Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and IEEE Senior Member. His current research focuses on Intelligent Computational for Modeling/Simulation and Decision Support Systems. Presently, he is investigating how Computational Intelligence hybridised with Computational Semiotics can evoke explanations that are not mere rules extractions on decision support to Complex problems.
