Abstract:
Many rural areas of the United Kingdom are not connected to the public sewerage system which can lead to loss of amenity, hot spots of pollution and in some cases prosecution.
The talk will provide the background to the legislation which encourages water companies to provide main drainage to some of these rural areas. It will include a case study focussing on how one particular scheme in Cornwall was developed, together with looking at some of the technologies that are available to individuals to mitigate pollution in these areas.
Biography:
Chris has a degree in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager. Together with this, he is also a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Institution of Water and Environmental Management.
He started his career working for contractors which was invaluable in helping him to understand the construction process, how construction sites operate and the importance of good design. For the last 30 years he has worked for four consulting engineers working on mainly water based projects both in the UK and overseas.
