It is no secret that academia has a mental health problem. Mental health disorders are common and occur at much higher rates in academics than within the general population. However, there is still a lot of stigma attached this topic that can prevent those suffering from disorders from seeking outside help or support. In this talk, I will discuss my experiences dealing with a mental health disorder. I hope that by talking openly about my experiences, it will raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health and make people more comfortable discussing the topic.
